Adobe hopes for less piracy - CAP & Design

  • David Wadhwani on Adobe MAX Monday.

  • On Monday, Adobe announced that Creative Suite leaves behind and betting everything on Creative Cloud. Our sister magazine Digital Arts has talked to David Wadhwani, who is responsible for Digital Media at Adobe, about Creative Clouds future. One of the questions that came up was about Wadhwanis thoughts on piracy of Adobe products.

Class=”paragraphIntro”> – We believe to combat piracy of software by making the right software for the right people to the right price. One of the things we noticed when we switched to the new model is that people who never bought software from Adobe – some as pirated software before – now known that they can afford it, said David Wadhwani.

    – I think not to people who pirate our software do it because they are bad people, or because they like to steal things. I just think that they decided that they can not afford it. And now, with the switch to subscriptions and with the ability to offer software at a cheaper price, we see that it starts to change, and we’re excited for, continues Wadhwani.

When the question came up on Adobe’s press breakfast in Sweden yesterday was Jes Schym Communications and Marketing Manager Mariah Andén not as positive. They believe that the software will continue piracy to some extent, but they hope that those who pirate will now feel they can afford the software.

David Wadhwani received also asked whether they have any plans to make the Creative Cloud cheaper.

    – The is very important to me is that we do not restrict ourselves for who who have access to this amazing technology. Because I think we are starting to see a big difference when it comes to interest and influence of individuals involved in the creative process. I feel strongly that what we want to do is to get this technology into the hands of as many people as we can, answer Wadhwani.

    – How we makes it is not necessarily to take what we sell now and make it cheaper and cheaper. But I do believe that there are opportunities for us to take some of the technology we have now and give them out in other ways that are more affordable and accessible to a larger section of customers. So if you ask if I want to use this new platform and the flexibility it gives us the answer is definitely yes.
