Apple leads the app war - Electronics Magazine - Elektroniktidningen

Apple’s app store opened almost five years ago after the launch of the app and touch screen mobile Iphone. It was an instant success and after three years you could count a total of 10 billion downloads.

Have passed at breakneck speed as the sales of the smart mobile Iphone and Ipad tablet pulled away.

In less than two years, an additional 30 billion Apple apps downloaded, and the other day could Apple announce on its website that it had passed 50 billion downloads since its launch in early July 2008.

Google, the company behind the operating system Android, was not slow to report download figures for Android Apps.

On Wednesday told Google’s mobile head Sundar Pichai at a developer conference that there are now 900 million active Android mobiles in the world and it has been downloaded 48 billion Android apps since Android launched just over four years ago.

Apple may lead “contest” if the number of downloaded apps, but when it comes to market share for Android OS leads big.

According to the latest market statistics from Gartner was sold four times as many Android mobiles like Iphone Mobiles in the first quarter of this year.

The largest manufacturer of smart phones with Android is the world number one Samsung, while world number two Nokia builds its smart cell phone around Microsoft’s Windows operating system.
