Apple denies tax evasion - Swedish YLE

Electronics giant Apple CEO Tim Cook denies accusations that the company would have cheated with taxes and moved money to companies registered in Ireland.

– We pay all the taxes that we owe – every dollar, Cook said in a hearing by a committee of the U.S. Senate on Tuesday. According to Cook, Apple is not dependent on tax evasion.

Cook said he was proud of its contribution to the U.S. economy. According to him, pays Apple’s international subsidiaries taxes to the countries where they operate.

Cook admits that Apple has a low tax rate abroad, but stressed that the case of products sold outside the United States.

In a report accusing the Senate Apple to avoid paying billions in American corporation. Tax Smitningen should have lasted for four years.

More than 74 billion dollars, about 57 billion will be transferred to companies registered in Ireland which are not taxable.

Even before hearing of the Senate Apple came up with a statement that denies tax evasion. According to Apple, the company sells the majority of its products abroad, and therefore have much assets there.

61 percent of its profits came from overseas last year.
