Google Ice Cream has new apps in sight - Business Week - Business Week

Google Glass, glasses with internet access, will soon receive seven new apps. There they announced at a conference on Thursday.

glasses have typical Google features, such as web-search and maps. They can also be connected to the phone, for example, to send messages and take pictures. Among the new apps are “breaking news” from CNN, where additional stories popping up in front of the user, just as they can pop up and interrupt a regular newscast. Some other apps are Facebook messages, fashions from Elle, and reminders from Evernote.

Google would like to see app developers are experimenting with apps for the new glasses, to make them more functional. The idea is that Google Ice Cream will be an integral part of our everyday life, like smart phones and tablets have become.

Technology giant would still proceed slowly, for example by limiting apps access to user information. Google also emphasizes the importance of choice – one should for example be able to choose what kind of news that will pop up showing the periods.

So far there will be no app store for the glasses, but the new apps will be available only to those who paid for an early version of the glasses.
