Left 4 Dead 2 beta available for Linux - Eurogamer.se

Valve has announced via its Left 4 Dead blog that the beta version of Left 4 Dead 2 is now available on Steam for those running Linux . This means that all Linux users who are hungry for zombie hunting can now begin to go out on Steam in order to find like-minded people to share this glorious multiplayer experience with.

Those who already own Left 4 Dead 2 through Steam can now see the beta version in their collection, but beyond the game you also get access to tools, such as providing the possibility of setting up a dedicated game server. I have not myself had the opportunity to test how good the game rolls on Linux because I myself run Windows on my machines, but as always when it comes to beta versions, it’s been some teething problems. The early comments I’ve read on the forums have been generally positive.

This is another step in Valve’s efforts to broaden the gaming market to an operating system that previously had not received that much love from the game developers. Steam has become a platform that now offers a relatively comprehensive range just to Linux and they do it smartly by a plattformsagnostiskt mindset. If you buy a game available for both PC, Mac and Linux, you can access all the versions on purchase.

How many of you are running Linux today? What games would you like to see on the platform?
