Volvo starts building new standard engine - Aftonbladet

Today pulled the moving running for Volvo’s engine factory in Skövde. VEA engine will be the new standard engine and get into all Volvo models from this fall.

After two years of hard work with the new engine, engineers can hand over the work on the new engine to the factory workers. Volvo Engine Architecture, or VEA engine as it is called internally, has four cylinders and a displacement of two liters.

Thanks to turbocharging in combination with electric drive declines Volvo have come on trick to reduce engine size without sacrificing performance. While they promise to lower fuel consumption than the current four-cylinder engines.

The new engine will be launched in different versions, depending on fuel and vehicle type from autumn 2015. The first cars to get the engine, the Volvo S60, V60, XC60, V70, XC70 and S80.
