Kooperation Sans Frontières becomes We Effect - MyNewsdesk (press release)

From now known as one of the largest and oldest aid organizations We Effect. The name change is a result of a trademark work to get more people in Sweden to commit to a long-term assistance – where people work together to help themselves out of poverty.

– A strong name that many know is a prerequisite in day for efficiently reduce poverty. During our new name We Effect wants we get numbers to become involved and contribute to our work with help to self help. So that more women and males can receive support to join together, increase their incomes and themselves take themselves out poverty, says Anneli Rogeman, vd for We Effect.

Kooperation continues to be centrally for the work in they 25 countries where organization is active. So even in the name We Effect, if than expressed another manner. It is together as people and changes happen – a “we-effect” arises.

– Poverty has been halved the last 25 years but still liver almost 1.4 billion people in extreme poverty. We know that help to self help gives long term and permanent results and it wants we now that more shall feel to and contribute to, says Anneli Rogeman.

The name mixed up easily with others, there are currently over 25 different organizations in Sweden whose name ends in “Without Borders”. Additionally has the word Cooperative Centre become less common and many, especially young, do not know what it means.

The decision to rename for We Effect was taken by representatives from they just over 60 member organizations, with roots on the Swedish cooperative movement, who stands behind the organization. The name change is its inception for a campaign that lifts forward the work that We Effect makes for reducing poverty where among other newspaper ads, investigations and studies Included.

We Effect (formerly SCC) is a development organization that, since 1958, think and act long term – that changes will persist. Help to help is the guiding star in our aid work in 25 countries in four world parts. Behind the organization stands some sixty Swedish companies and organizations with roots on the Swedish cooperative movement. Rural development: We Effect supports peasant organizations in their work with to increase their members’ income and access to food through t . ex. agriculture counseling, strengthened position on the market and help with negotiations if prices. Bostäder: We Effect supports local housing cooperatives where members together builds their residences. The cooperatives conducts advocacy work for the available housing credit and-assured right to land to build on.

Access to land: For people to be able till the earth and build housing required it access to land. We Effect supports people’s rights to land. By coming together may humans become a strong voice and defend their interests against both government and foreign investors.

Gender equality: We Effect integrates gender equality in all activities. We support our partner organizations work to strengthen women rights, inter alia through female leadership, a more equitable division of labor in agriculture, and by defending women’s right to land. Our goal is that at least 50 percent of our support to reach women.

One example at We Effects work from Paraguay
Together with peasant organization Ceard supports We Effect rural people in Paraguay. The peasants have received learn how man samodlar various vegetables and to manufacture shareholders’ organically artificial fertilizers. The arable land has given higher yields of better quality. By joining forces, peasants have reached out to local markets with their products, such as sesame seeds and sugar cane. 480 families had 2010 an average income of 30 kronor if the day.
