Silvermont, Intel’s new microarchitecture is here. With a focus on low energy consumption and high performance, Intel is aiming in on segments such as the smartphone and data centers.

Silvermont is based on Intel’s 22nm Tri-Gate SoC (System on a Chip) manufacturing process, which provides benefits in both increased performance and energy efficiency, and will be the basis for a number of products that will be launched later this years.

According to the company itself so delivers Silvermont about three times more ‘highest performance’ or same performance as Intel Atom processors, but with approximately 5 times lower power consumption.

Silvermont will be the basis for a range of 22nm-based products such as tablet PCs, smartphones, micro servers, network infrastructure, storage solutions and more.
